They were outstanding. Super responsive without talking to some robot to schedule. They shot right over to the house right away when our AC wasn't working. You want to use them for super quick and great service!
Great company to work with! I felt like they were fair and honest. They were great at communicating with me and getting out to our place fast and working around our schedule! Will be using them again in the future!
I HIGHLY recommend going with Vortex Air HVAC. My original heater in my house (1989) was having issues. I watched a ton of videos and did everything to get it back and working with one caveat. Vortex came and took a look and realized it was a simple quick fix. He didn't charge me anything for it after I insisted I paid him. He then proceeded to to a quick diagnostic to verify everything was working correctly for free. Fantastic customer service. That simple act has won me over as a lifetime customer.
We contacted Vortex Air HVAC when we were installing a vent fan above our stove. The Vortex team came out, climbed up in our attic to cut a hole in our roof to install the ducting for it. Not only did they weather seal around their work, they cleaned the entire mess and was very friendly and professional. Now every year we have them come out and prep our furnace and A/C for the seasons. Thank you Vortex Air for excellent, professional and friendly service everytime. 😁
Quick response time, very knowledgeable, and great pricing. I definitely will be calling vortex next time!
I’ve waited a few weeks to post this review pending my full experience with Vortex air. Recently we had our ac go out, I had multiple big name and a few smaller companies out they all played the same game! Send a “tech” they tell me it’s bad few hours to a day later another “sales” man shows up to quote it.. I called these guys as I had just a coworker refer them. The Owner answered the phone and then showed up to my house within an hour! He then proceeded to give me all the options to even repair! He made thoughtful and valid suggestions on what we can really do to improve air quality as well. Day of install shows up and they were on time and had it all changed and running same day! Pricing was very competitive and not like getting the wind knocked out of you like all the other prices I got. 5 stars for service another 5 for the install and another 5 for the peace of mind we will have coming these next seasons. Thank you vortex!

Air Duct Installation Service
Our professional air duct installation service begins with a meticulous design phase. This is the most critical step for ensuring your new ductwork performs effectively for years to come. Our experts perform a comprehensive load calculation on your home to determine the precise heating and cooling needs of each room. We then use this data to design a duct system according to industry best practices, such as those outlined in the ACCA Manual D. This involves selecting the right size and type of ducts for each run. Proper design ensures balanced airflow to every room in your house. We avoid the common problems of undersized or oversized ducts.
We offer a variety of high quality materials for your new ductwork installation. The most common options are sheet metal, fiberglass duct board, and flexible ducts. Sheet metal is the most durable and long lasting option, with a smooth interior that promotes excellent airflow. Fiberglass duct board provides good insulation and sound dampening qualities. Flexible ducts, or flex ducts, are often used in tight or tricky spaces. Our experts will recommend the best material or combination of materials for your specific home and budget. We only use high quality, durable materials that meet all local building codes. Our focus is on building a system that lasts.
The installation process is carried out by our team of skilled and experienced technicians. We take great care to ensure every component of the duct system is installed correctly. We properly support all duct runs to prevent sagging, which can restrict airflow and create collection points for debris. Our team carefully cuts openings for registers and grilles, ensuring a clean and professional finish. We work efficiently and cleanly, respecting your home and property throughout the entire installation process. Our craftsmanship is second to none, with attention paid to every detail of the installation. We build systems that we are proud to stand behind.
Proper sealing is a non negotiable part of every air duct installation we perform. Leaky ducts are a massive source of energy waste in homes. We meticulously seal every connection point in the duct system, including joints, seams, and register boots. We use high quality mastic sealant or specialized foil tape to create airtight connections. This ensures that all the conditioned air your HVAC system produces gets delivered to your living spaces, not lost in your attic or crawlspace. A properly sealed duct system is essential for achieving maximum energy efficiency and comfort. We test our work to ensure it meets high standards for airtightness.
Insulation is another key component of a high performance duct system, especially for ducts located in unconditioned areas. Any ductwork that runs through an attic, crawl space, or garage must be properly insulated. Without insulation, the conditioned air inside the ducts can lose a significant amount of heat in the winter or gain heat in the summer. This forces your HVAC system to work much harder to maintain your desired temperature. We wrap all necessary ducts with the appropriate R value insulation, ensuring minimal thermal loss. This simple step can have a major impact on your energy bills.
After the physical installation is complete, we perform a balancing procedure. Air balancing involves adjusting dampers within the ductwork to ensure each room receives the correct amount of airflow as specified in the design plan. This final tuning step is crucial for eliminating hot and cold spots in your home. It ensures that every room is comfortable and that the system operates as efficiently as possible. Many contractors skip this critical final step, but we believe it is essential for delivering a truly professional installation. We do not consider the job finished until your system is perfectly balanced.
A new ductwork installation from Vortex Air HVAC is a long term investment in your home’s comfort and efficiency. A properly designed and installed system will improve your comfort, lower your energy bills, and enhance your indoor air quality. It will also allow your heating and air conditioning equipment to perform at its best, extending its lifespan. We stand behind the quality of our work with a commitment to superior design, materials, and craftsmanship. Trust us to build the circulatory system your home’s comfort depends on. We deliver results that you can feel.

Common Air Duct Installation Questions
We understand you have questions about air duct installation. Our goal is to provide clear and helpful answers about this important home infrastructure project. Below, you will find detailed information on common inquiries.
There are several situations where replacing your ductwork is the best course of action. The most common reason is age and poor condition. If your ducts are very old, they may have leaks, tears, or collapsed sections that are difficult to repair effectively. Old ducts, especially those made with outdated materials, can also harbor years of accumulated dust and contaminants that are impossible to fully remove with cleaning. If you are experiencing persistent air quality issues or have visible damage to your ducts, a full replacement may be the most effective long term solution. We can inspect your ducts and provide an honest recommendation.
Another key reason to replace ductwork is if it was improperly designed or sized from the start. This is a very common problem in older homes and even some newer ones. If your duct system is too small for your HVAC equipment, it will choke the airflow, leading to poor performance, high energy bills, and premature system failure. If you have persistent hot and cold spots in your home, it is often a sign of a poorly designed duct system. In these cases, simply replacing the HVAC unit without addressing the ductwork will not solve the problem. A new, properly designed duct system is necessary for true comfort.
You should also consider a ductwork replacement if you are undertaking a major home renovation or adding an extension. An existing duct system is likely not designed to handle the heating and cooling needs of the new space. Tacking on extra duct runs to an old system can throw the entire system out of balance. A professional redesign and installation will ensure that both the old and new parts of your home receive adequate, balanced airflow. It is the correct way to integrate a new addition into your home’s comfort system. We specialize in designing systems for renovated homes.
There are three primary types of materials used for air ducts, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Sheet metal ducts are the traditional and often premium choice. They are typically made from galvanized steel or aluminum and are very durable and long lasting. The smooth interior surface of metal ducts provides the least resistance to airflow, making them very efficient. However, they are generally more expensive to install and must be insulated separately when run through unconditioned spaces. Metal ducts are rigid and excellent for the main trunk lines of a duct system.
Fiberglass duct board is another option. This material consists of rigid panels of compressed fiberglass that are insulated on the outside and have a special coating on the inside to prevent fibers from entering the airstream. The main advantage of duct board is that it is inherently insulated, which can save on labor and material costs. It also has excellent sound dampening qualities, leading to a quieter HVAC system. However, it is not as durable as sheet metal and can be susceptible to damage from moisture or physical impact if not installed carefully.
Flexible ducts, often called “flex ducts,” are the third type. These are essentially insulated tubes with a wire coil for structure and a durable outer jacket. Their primary advantage is their flexibility, which makes them much easier and faster to install, especially in tight or awkward spaces. They are often used for the final runs from the main trunk line to the individual room registers. However, flex ducts have a rougher interior surface, which creates more friction and reduces airflow compared to smooth metal ducts. It is crucial that they are installed correctly, without sharp bends or kinks that can choke airflow.
Manual D is the industry standard for designing and sizing residential duct systems, developed by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA). It is a detailed, engineering based methodology that provides a step by step process for creating a duct system that delivers the right amount of air to each room. It takes into account the heating and cooling load of each room, the friction loss of the duct materials, and the performance of the HVAC equipment’s blower. A Manual D calculation results in a complete blueprint for your ductwork. It specifies the size, type, and layout of every duct run and register.
The importance of using Manual D cannot be overstated. It is the only way to ensure that your duct system is scientifically designed for balanced airflow and optimal performance. Without a proper design process, contractors often rely on outdated rules of thumb or guesswork to size ducts. This frequently leads to systems that are improperly sized, resulting in significant comfort and efficiency problems. An undersized duct system will be noisy and will not deliver enough air, while an oversized system will have poor air velocity, leading to uneven temperatures. Manual D eliminates this guesswork.
At Vortex Air HVAC, we believe in doing things the right way, and that starts with a proper design. Our technicians are trained in the principles of Manual D and use them to design every new duct system we install. This commitment to professional design standards is what sets us apart from many other contractors. It guarantees that your new ductwork will work in harmony with your HVAC equipment to provide even, comfortable temperatures throughout your home while operating as efficiently as possible. It is the foundation of a high performance HVAC system.
A new, professionally installed duct system can dramatically improve your home’s energy efficiency in several ways. The most significant improvement comes from eliminating air leaks. In a typical home, up to 30% of conditioned air is lost through leaks in the ductwork before it ever reaches the intended rooms. Our installation process involves meticulously sealing every single joint and connection with mastic sealant to create an airtight system. This ensures that virtually 100% of the air you paid to heat or cool is delivered to your living spaces, drastically reducing energy waste. This is the single biggest factor in efficiency improvement.
Proper insulation is the second key factor. Ducts that run through unconditioned areas like attics or crawlspaces are exposed to extreme temperatures. Uninsulated or poorly insulated ducts will lose a tremendous amount of energy as heat transfers through the duct walls. We install ductwork with the correct level of insulation, typically R-8 or higher, for all ducts in unconditioned spaces. This minimizes thermal loss, meaning your HVAC system does not have to run as long or as hard to maintain the desired temperature inside your home. This leads to direct savings on your utility bills.
Finally, a properly designed duct system improves efficiency by allowing your HVAC equipment to function as it was designed. When ducts are correctly sized, they provide the optimal airflow for your furnace or air conditioner. This allows the system to operate at its peak efficiency rating. Restricted or unbalanced airflow from poorly designed ducts puts a strain on your equipment’s blower motor, causing it to use more electricity and wear out faster. A new duct system from Vortex Air HVAC ensures your entire comfort system works together as a finely tuned machine, maximizing both efficiency and performance.
Yes, we absolutely can install a complete duct system in a home that was not originally built with one. This is a common project for older homes that were heated with radiators or other non-centralized systems and are now being upgraded to a modern central air conditioning and heating system. This process is known as a “retrofit” installation. Our team has the expertise and experience to design and install a duct system in an existing home with minimal disruption to your living spaces. We are skilled at finding creative and effective pathways for the new ductwork.
The design process for a retrofit is especially important. Our experts will carefully survey your home to plan the best routes for the main trunk lines and individual duct runs. We often utilize spaces like attics, basements, crawl spaces, and the back of closets to run the ducts. Our goal is to conceal the ductwork as much as possible to preserve the aesthetic of your home. We use a combination of rigid metal ducts and flexible ducts to navigate around existing structural elements. We will work with you to determine the best locations for supply and return registers in each room.
A retrofit duct installation is a more complex project than an installation in a new construction home, but it is entirely achievable with the right team. We take great care to protect your home during the installation process, using drop cloths and cleaning up thoroughly each day. The result is a fully integrated central HVAC system that provides consistent comfort throughout your entire home. If you own an older home and are tired of dealing with window AC units or inefficient heating, contact us to learn more about our expert retrofit duct installation services.
The timeline for a complete air duct installation project can vary depending on the scope of the work. For a full replacement of the ductwork in an existing home, the project typically takes between two to five days. The size of the home, the accessibility of the ducts, and the type of materials being used all influence the duration. A retrofit installation in a home that has never had ducts before can be more complex and may take a bit longer. Our team will provide you with a clear and accurate project timeline after our initial design consultation. We work efficiently to minimize the disruption to your household.
The first part of the process is the removal of the old ductwork, if applicable. Our team will carefully dismantle and remove all the old ducts from your attic, basement, or crawlspace. We handle the responsible disposal of all the old materials. Once the space is clear, we begin the installation of the new system, starting with the main plenum and trunk lines connected to your HVAC unit. We then run the individual branch ducts to each room, carefully following the design plan. We work methodically to ensure every connection is secure and properly sealed.
The final stages involve cutting in and installing the registers and grilles, insulating the ductwork, and performing the system balancing. We test the system thoroughly to ensure it is performing as expected. Throughout the project, our team maintains a clean and organized work site. We communicate with you daily to provide progress updates. While a full duct installation is a significant project, our professional and efficient process makes it as smooth and stress free as possible for you. The result is a high performance system you will enjoy for decades.
Yes, designing the ductwork system is a fundamental and non negotiable part of our installation service. We do not simply install ducts; we engineer a complete air distribution system tailored to your home. A high quality installation is impossible without a high quality design. Our process always begins with a detailed assessment of your home and a scientific load calculation to determine the specific airflow requirements for each and every room. This data forms the basis of our design. We believe that this upfront engineering work is what separates a professional installation from the rest.
Our design process follows the industry’s highest standards, as outlined in the ACCA’s Manual D protocol. This ensures that every aspect of the system is correctly calculated, from the size of the main trunk lines to the diameter of the smallest branch duct. We determine the optimal layout to minimize turns and long runs, which helps to maintain strong airflow. We also strategically place supply and return registers to promote proper air circulation within each room, eliminating drafts and stagnant air. Our designs are focused on delivering three key benefits: optimal comfort, maximum efficiency, and quiet operation.
You will be involved in the design process. We will review the proposed layout with you, explaining our choices for register placement and ensuring the plan works with your home’s aesthetics. By the time we begin the physical installation, we will have a complete, detailed blueprint for your new duct system. This meticulous design-first approach is our commitment to quality. It guarantees that your new ductwork from Vortex Air HVAC will not just be installed correctly, but will be designed correctly from the very beginning.
The cost of a new air duct installation can vary widely, as it is a custom project tailored to each specific home. The most significant factors that influence the price are the size of your home and the scope of the project. A larger home requires more materials and labor, so the cost will be higher than for a smaller home. A full replacement or a retrofit installation in a home without existing ducts will be more expensive than a partial installation or ductwork for a small addition. We provide detailed quotes based on the specific requirements of your project.
The type of materials used also affects the overall cost. Sheet metal ductwork is generally the most expensive option, while systems using primarily flexible ducts tend to be more affordable due to lower material and labor costs. A system that uses a combination of materials is very common. The amount of insulation required, which depends on where the ducts are located, will also be a factor in the price. We will discuss the pros and cons of different material options with you and help you choose the best solution for your budget.
When you receive an estimate from Vortex Air HVAC, it will be a comprehensive, itemized quote that covers all aspects of the job. This includes the design process, all materials, labor for removal and installation, and the final system balancing. We believe in transparent, upfront pricing with no hidden fees. While a new duct system is a significant investment, it is a crucial one for your home’s long term comfort and efficiency. We also offer flexible financing options to help make the project more manageable for your budget.
