They were outstanding. Super responsive without talking to some robot to schedule. They shot right over to the house right away when our AC wasn't working. You want to use them for super quick and great service!
Great company to work with! I felt like they were fair and honest. They were great at communicating with me and getting out to our place fast and working around our schedule! Will be using them again in the future!
I HIGHLY recommend going with Vortex Air HVAC. My original heater in my house (1989) was having issues. I watched a ton of videos and did everything to get it back and working with one caveat. Vortex came and took a look and realized it was a simple quick fix. He didn't charge me anything for it after I insisted I paid him. He then proceeded to to a quick diagnostic to verify everything was working correctly for free. Fantastic customer service. That simple act has won me over as a lifetime customer.
We contacted Vortex Air HVAC when we were installing a vent fan above our stove. The Vortex team came out, climbed up in our attic to cut a hole in our roof to install the ducting for it. Not only did they weather seal around their work, they cleaned the entire mess and was very friendly and professional. Now every year we have them come out and prep our furnace and A/C for the seasons. Thank you Vortex Air for excellent, professional and friendly service everytime. 😁
Quick response time, very knowledgeable, and great pricing. I definitely will be calling vortex next time!
I’ve waited a few weeks to post this review pending my full experience with Vortex air. Recently we had our ac go out, I had multiple big name and a few smaller companies out they all played the same game! Send a “tech” they tell me it’s bad few hours to a day later another “sales” man shows up to quote it.. I called these guys as I had just a coworker refer them. The Owner answered the phone and then showed up to my house within an hour! He then proceeded to give me all the options to even repair! He made thoughtful and valid suggestions on what we can really do to improve air quality as well. Day of install shows up and they were on time and had it all changed and running same day! Pricing was very competitive and not like getting the wind knocked out of you like all the other prices I got. 5 stars for service another 5 for the install and another 5 for the peace of mind we will have coming these next seasons. Thank you vortex!

Air Duct Inspection Service
Our professional air duct inspection service begins with a consultation and a visual check of your HVAC system. Our technician will discuss any specific concerns you have, such as uneven temperatures, high energy bills, or poor air quality. We will then perform an initial external examination of the visible ductwork in areas like your basement, attic, or crawl space. We look for obvious issues like disconnected joints, crushed sections, or poor insulation. This preliminary step helps us understand the overall layout and condition of your system. It provides a foundation for the more detailed internal inspection to follow. We believe in a methodical approach to ensure nothing is overlooked.
The core of our service is the use of state of the art video inspection equipment. We insert a high resolution camera, mounted on a flexible snake, deep into your ductwork. This allows us and you to see the interior condition of your ducts in real time on a video monitor. The camera can navigate through the entire network of ducts, revealing things that would be impossible to see otherwise. We can identify buildup of dust and debris, signs of moisture or mold growth, and evidence of pest infestations. This technology provides undeniable visual proof of your duct system’s condition. It takes the guesswork out of assessing your ductwork.
During the camera inspection, we meticulously look for specific problems that affect performance and safety. We search for leaks at seams and joints, which can lead to significant energy loss and pull dirty air into your system. Our technicians identify any blockages, such as construction debris or animal nests, that restrict airflow and strain your HVAC unit. We also look for damage, like tears in flex duct or corrosion in metal ducts. Identifying these structural issues is crucial for restoring the efficiency and integrity of your system. Our trained eyes know exactly what to look for. We document all findings with photos or video clips.
An important part of our inspection is assessing the level of contamination. Over years of use, ductwork can accumulate a thick layer of dust, pet dander, pollen, and other allergens. In some cases, moisture intrusion can lead to the growth of mold or mildew, which poses a health risk. Our camera inspection clearly shows the extent of any buildup. This helps determine if a professional duct cleaning is warranted. Knowing exactly what is inside your ducts allows you to make an informed decision about improving your home’s indoor air quality. We provide clear evidence to support our recommendations.
Our inspection also evaluates the overall design and installation quality of your ductwork. Poorly designed or installed ducts can lead to major efficiency problems and uncomfortable rooms. We check to see if the ducts are properly sized and supported. We also assess the quality of the sealing at all connections and registers. In many homes, we find that ductwork was not installed to modern standards, leading to years of wasted energy. Our inspection can pinpoint these fundamental flaws in your system. This information is vital for long term solutions to comfort and efficiency issues.
After the physical inspection is complete, our technician will provide you with a comprehensive report. This report will detail all of our findings, complete with images from the video inspection. We will explain in clear terms what the issues are and how they are impacting your home. We will then present you with a list of recommended actions, which could range from simple sealing and repairs to a full duct cleaning or replacement. We provide upfront pricing for any proposed work. Our goal is to empower you with knowledge.
An air duct inspection from Vortex Air HVAC is an invaluable diagnostic tool. It is ideal for homeowners experiencing comfort issues, those concerned about air quality, or anyone looking to improve their home’s energy efficiency. It is also a highly recommended step before purchasing a new home, as it can reveal costly problems with the HVAC system. Our honest, detailed inspections provide the clarity you need to take the right steps. We help you protect your investment and improve the health of your home. Trust us for a thorough and professional assessment.

Common Air Duct Inspection Questions
We understand you have questions about air duct inspections. Our goal is to provide clear answers about this valuable diagnostic service. Below, you will find detailed information on common inquiries about the process.
An air duct inspection is a diagnostic service, while a cleaning is a maintenance service. Getting an inspection first is a smarter, more targeted approach to ductwork issues. An inspection with a camera allows you to see the actual condition of your ducts before committing to a service. You may find that your ducts are relatively clean and do not require a full cleaning service at all. Conversely, the inspection might reveal more serious issues than just dirt, such as disconnected joints, leaks, or mold growth, which a standard cleaning alone would not fix. An inspection ensures you are spending money on the right solution for your specific problem.
An inspection provides valuable information and prevents you from paying for unnecessary services. Some companies may recommend a duct cleaning without any proof that it is needed. At Vortex Air HVAC, we believe in an honest, evidence based approach. Our video inspection shows you exactly what we see, so you can make an informed decision. This transparency builds trust and ensures you are confident in the services you are purchasing. The inspection acts as a quality control measure, first to diagnose the problem, and later to verify that any corrective work was done properly. It provides peace of mind and accountability.
Ultimately, an inspection can save you money. If the inspection reveals that your high energy bills are due to leaky ducts rather than dirty ducts, you can invest in duct sealing, which will provide a much better return on investment. If the ducts are clean but poorly designed, a cleaning will not solve your comfort problems. The inspection pinpoints the true root cause of your issues, whether it is contamination, leaks, or design flaws. This allows for a precise and effective solution, ensuring your money is well spent and the problem is truly solved. It is the most logical first step.
At Vortex Air HVAC, we use advanced, specialized equipment to perform our air duct inspections. The centerpiece of our technology is a high resolution, flexible video camera system. This system consists of a small camera head equipped with powerful LED lights, attached to a long, semi rigid cable or snake. This allows our technicians to navigate the camera through the twists and turns of your entire ductwork system, from the registers all the way to the main trunk lines. The camera sends a live video feed back to a monitor, allowing both the technician and the homeowner to see the interior conditions clearly.
The cameras we use are designed specifically for the dark and narrow environment of ductwork. The powerful lighting illuminates every surface, revealing fine dust, debris, and any signs of moisture or microbial growth. The high resolution of the camera captures clear, detailed images, making it easy to identify problems. We can record the video footage or capture still images of any areas of concern. This documentation is included in our final report to you. It serves as a permanent record of your system’s condition at the time of the inspection. This technology provides undeniable proof of any issues.
In addition to video cameras, our technicians may use other diagnostic tools. A thermal imaging camera can be used to detect air leaks from the outside of the ducts, showing where conditioned air is escaping into unconditioned spaces like attics or crawl spaces. We may also use a small, handheld anemometer to measure the airflow coming from each register. This can help identify blockages or imbalances in the system. By combining these advanced technologies with our extensive experience, we can provide the most comprehensive and accurate ductwork assessment possible. We invest in the best tools for the job.
A professional duct inspection can uncover a wide range of hidden problems that affect your comfort, air quality, and energy bills. The most common issue we find is a significant buildup of contaminants. This can include thick layers of dust, dirt, pet dander, construction debris, and even children’s toys or food that have fallen into the vents. This debris can restrict airflow and becomes a food source for microbes, degrading your indoor air quality every time the system runs. The inspection will show the exact level of this buildup.
The inspection is also highly effective at finding air leaks. We often discover that ducts have become disconnected at the seams or that joints were never properly sealed during installation. These leaks can account for up to 30% of a home’s energy loss, as heated or cooled air escapes into the attic or crawlspace instead of reaching your rooms. Leaks in return ducts are also a problem, as they can pull dusty, unconditioned, and potentially contaminated air from these spaces into your home. Sealing these leaks is one of the most effective energy saving measures a homeowner can take.
Finally, an inspection can reveal serious issues like mold growth, pest infestations, or structural damage. Moisture from a roof leak or a plumbing issue can lead to mold inside your ducts, which is a significant health concern. We can also find evidence of rodents or insects making a home in your ductwork, leaving behind nests and droppings. The camera can also spot crushed, torn, or corroded sections of duct that are severely restricting airflow. Uncovering these major problems early allows you to address them before they cause more extensive damage or health issues.
A thorough air duct inspection in a typical single family home usually takes between one to two hours to complete. The exact duration depends on several factors, primarily the size of your home and the complexity of your ductwork system. A larger home with multiple HVAC systems and extensive ductwork will naturally take longer to inspect than a smaller home with a simple layout. Our goal is to be comprehensive, so we take the time needed to inspect a representative sample of your supply and return duct runs. We want to get a complete picture of your system’s health.
The accessibility of your HVAC system and ducts also plays a role in the inspection timeline. If your furnace or air handler is in an easily accessible utility closet, the process will be quicker than if it is located in a tight attic or crawl space. Our technicians are trained to work safely and efficiently in all types of environments. We come prepared with all the necessary tools and equipment to perform the inspection regardless of your system’s location. We work carefully to avoid any disruption to your home during the process.
During the inspection, our technician will likely invite you to view the video monitor as the camera travels through the ducts. We believe in educating our customers and showing them the findings firsthand. We will also take time at the end of the inspection to review the full report with you and answer all of your questions. We allocate time for this important communication step. We want to ensure you fully understand the condition of your ducts and our recommendations before we leave. This commitment to a thorough process and clear communication is what sets our service apart.
It is a common misconception that new construction homes do not need air duct inspections. In fact, newly built homes are often prime candidates for this service. During the construction process, ductwork is often left open and exposed for long periods. This allows a significant amount of construction debris, such as drywall dust, sawdust, and scrap materials, to accumulate inside the ducts. When you move in and turn on your HVAC system for the first time, all of this debris gets circulated throughout your brand new home. An inspection can verify the cleanliness of the ducts before you move in.
The quality of duct installation in new homes can also be inconsistent. In the rush to complete a project, subcontractors may cut corners, leaving ducts improperly sealed, poorly supported, or even crushed. We have conducted inspections on new homes and found disconnected ducts that were dumping conditioned air into the attic instead of the intended room. These installation flaws can lead to years of high energy bills and comfort problems. A post construction duct inspection acts as a crucial quality control check, identifying these issues while the builder is still responsible for fixing them.
An inspection gives you peace of mind that the HVAC system in your new home is clean and functioning as designed. It is a small investment to protect the much larger investment you have made in your property. If issues are found, you can present the builder with clear, visual evidence from our inspection report. This makes it much easier to get the problems corrected. For a truly clean and efficient start in your new home, a professional duct inspection from Vortex Air HVAC is a very wise decision. It helps ensure your new home is as healthy and efficient as it should be.
Yes, a video duct inspection is one of the most effective ways to determine if you have mold growing inside your ductwork. Mold thrives in dark, damp environments, and if moisture has entered your duct system, it can create the perfect conditions for mold to grow. Our high resolution camera can clearly identify the visual signs of microbial growth on the interior surfaces of your ducts. This often appears as black, green, or white speckled patterns or fuzzy patches. The powerful lights on our camera system ensure that even small colonies of mold are visible.
The inspection can not only identify the presence of mold but can also help determine the source of the moisture that is causing it. Our technician may be able to trace the moisture back to a roof leak, a plumbing issue, or high humidity from an oversized air conditioner. Finding and fixing the source of the moisture is the most critical step in any mold remediation plan. Without addressing the water problem, the mold will simply grow back after being cleaned. Our inspection provides the crucial information needed for a permanent solution.
If we suspect mold is present during an inspection, we will advise you on the proper next steps. It is important to note that our technicians are not mold remediation specialists, but we can identify the visual evidence and recommend that you consult with a certified environmental hygienist for air quality testing and remediation planning. A duct inspection is often the first step in diagnosing a hidden mold problem that could be affecting your family’s health. It provides the visual confirmation needed to take action.
Yes, absolutely. A key component of our professional air duct inspection service is the comprehensive report you receive upon completion. Our technician will not just tell you what they found; they will provide you with a detailed written document that outlines the condition of your entire duct system. This report serves as a permanent record of our assessment. It is a valuable tool that you can use to make informed decisions about your home’s maintenance and repairs. We believe that clear, detailed documentation is a hallmark of professional service.
The report will include a summary of our findings, broken down by different parts of your system. It will note the level of dust and debris, the location and severity of any air leaks, and any signs of damage, moisture, or other concerns. Most importantly, the report will be supplemented with high quality images captured by our video inspection camera. These pictures provide indisputable evidence of the conditions inside your ducts. Seeing is believing, and our visual reports make the problems easy to understand. We make sure our findings are clearly communicated.
Along with the diagnostic findings, the report will include a clear set of recommendations. If your ducts are in good shape, we will tell you. If they need cleaning, sealing, or repair, we will explain why and what the benefits will be. We will provide an upfront, no obligation quote for any work we recommend. Our technician will walk you through the entire report, answer all your questions, and ensure you have a complete understanding of your ductwork’s health. Our goal is to be your trusted advisor, providing the information you need.
Preparing for an air duct inspection is very simple and requires minimal effort on your part. The most helpful thing you can do is to ensure our technicians have clear access to your HVAC equipment and all the registers in your home. This means clearing any furniture, boxes, or other items away from your furnace or air handler. It also means making sure our technicians can easily reach each supply and return air vent in every room. This will allow the inspection process to go smoothly and efficiently, without our team having to move your belongings.
Please make a note of any specific issues you have been experiencing with your system. For example, if one room is always too hot or too cold, let our technician know. If you have noticed musty smells or excessive dust, point that out as well. This information can help our technician focus their investigation on potential problem areas. While our inspections are always thorough, your input can provide valuable clues that lead to a faster diagnosis. You know your home best, and your observations are an important part of the process.
Other than ensuring access and sharing your concerns, there is nothing else you need to do to prepare. Our professional technicians will handle everything else. We will bring all the necessary equipment and take great care to protect your home while we work. You do not need to worry about cleaning around the vents or doing anything to the system itself. Just sit back and let our experts provide you with a detailed look into the hidden parts of your home’s comfort system. We make the entire process easy and hassle free for you.
