I HIGHLY recommend going with Vortex Air HVAC. My original heater in my house (1989) was having issues. I watched a ton of videos and did everything to get it back and working with one caveat. Vortex came and took a look and realized it was a simple quick fix. He didn't charge me anything for it after I insisted I paid him. He then proceeded to to a quick diagnostic to verify everything was working correctly for free. Fantastic customer service. That simple act has won me over as a lifetime customer.

We contacted Vortex Air HVAC when we were installing a vent fan above our stove. The Vortex team came out, climbed up in our attic to cut a hole in our roof to install the ducting for it. Not only did they weather seal around their work, they cleaned the entire mess and was very friendly and professional. Now every year we have them come out and prep our furnace and A/C for the seasons. Thank you Vortex Air for excellent, professional and friendly service everytime. 😁

I’ve waited a few weeks to post this review pending my full experience with Vortex air. Recently we had our ac go out, I had multiple big name and a few smaller companies out they all played the same game! Send a “tech” they tell me it’s bad few hours to a day later another “sales” man shows up to quote it.. I called these guys as I had just a coworker refer them. The Owner answered the phone and then showed up to my house within an hour! He then proceeded to give me all the options to even repair! He made thoughtful and valid suggestions on what we can really do to improve air quality as well. Day of install shows up and they were on time and had it all changed and running same day! Pricing was very competitive and not like getting the wind knocked out of you like all the other prices I got. 5 stars for service another 5 for the install and another 5 for the peace of mind we will have coming these next seasons. Thank you vortex!

Air Conditioning Installation Service

Before installing the new system, our team will safely and professionally decommission your old air conditioning unit. This process involves carefully recovering any remaining refrigerant to comply with strict EPA regulations. We then disconnect the electrical wiring and refrigerant lines from the old indoor and outdoor units. The equipment is carefully removed from your property to avoid any damage to your home. We handle the responsible disposal and recycling of the old unit and its components. This clears the way for a clean and efficient installation of your new, high performance air conditioner. Our process is meticulous and respects your property. We leave the work area cleaner than we found it.

The next step involves the precise placement and securing of the new outdoor condenser unit. Our technicians will prepare a stable, level pad for the condenser, ensuring it has adequate clearance for proper airflow and future maintenance. Poor placement can restrict airflow, reducing efficiency and straining the compressor. We anchor the unit securely to the pad to prevent vibration and shifting over time. The condenser’s location is strategically chosen to minimize noise levels for you and your neighbors. We take great care in this step as it directly impacts system performance and lifespan. Our attention to detail ensures your new system operates reliably for years. Every connection is made with precision.

Simultaneously, we install the indoor unit, which is either an evaporator coil paired with your furnace or an air handler. This component is responsible for absorbing heat and moisture from your indoor air. We ensure the new coil is a perfect match for the outdoor condenser to achieve the manufacturer’s stated efficiency rating. The unit is securely installed and leveled within your existing ductwork or new air handler cabinet. We meticulously seal all connections to prevent air leakage, which can significantly reduce system efficiency. A properly installed indoor coil is essential for effective cooling and dehumidification. Our technicians ensure every part of your indoor setup is perfect. This guarantees you get the comfort you expect.

With the primary components in place, we focus on connecting the system. Our technicians skillfully route and connect the refrigerant lines, known as the line set, between the indoor and outdoor units. We use precise techniques to braze these copper lines, creating leak proof connections that will last for decades. After connecting the lines, we perform a deep vacuum process to remove all air and moisture from the refrigerant circuit. Following this, we charge the system with the exact amount of refrigerant specified by the manufacturer. We also run new electrical wiring and connect the thermostat, ensuring all electrical components are safe and up to code.

The final stage of our installation process is system commissioning. We power on the new air conditioner and perform a comprehensive series of tests to verify it is operating at peak performance. Our technicians measure airflow, check refrigerant pressures, and test electrical connections. We calibrate the thermostat and ensure all safety controls are functioning correctly. Once we are satisfied with the system’s operation, we walk you through its features and proper use. We explain the maintenance schedule and answer any final questions you may have. Our job is not complete until you are 100% satisfied and comfortable with your new AC system. We guarantee a flawless installation every time.

Common Air Conditioning Installation Questions

We understand you have questions about air conditioning installation. Our goal is to provide clear and helpful answers to ensure you feel confident in your decision. Below, you will find detailed information on common inquiries our customers have about the process.

The timeline for an air conditioning installation can vary based on several factors, but a standard replacement typically takes one full day. Our team usually arrives in the morning and completes the work by late afternoon. This timeframe of four to eight hours is common for a straightforward replacement of both the indoor and outdoor units. The process includes removing the old equipment, setting the new units, and making all necessary connections. We work efficiently and diligently to minimize disruption to your daily routine. Our technicians are trained to perform each step of the process with precision and care. We aim to restore your home’s comfort as quickly as possible without compromising quality.

If the installation is more complex, it may extend beyond a single day. For example, installing a system in a home for the first time requires the installation of new ductwork, which is a significant undertaking. This type of project can take several days to complete, depending on the size and layout of your home. Modifying existing ductwork to accommodate a new system can also add time to the job. Our initial consultation will provide a clear and accurate timeline for your specific project. We believe in transparent communication, so you will know exactly what to expect before we begin any work. Our priority is to do the job right, ensuring a safe and reliable installation.

Several other factors can influence the installation duration. The accessibility of the installation locations for the indoor and outdoor units plays a role; tight crawl spaces or attics can slow down the process. The type of system being installed also matters, as a high efficiency, multi stage system may have more complex wiring and setup requirements than a standard single stage unit. We always build in time for thorough system testing and commissioning. This final step is crucial to ensure your new air conditioner performs as expected. We will never rush the final checks, as your long term satisfaction is our primary goal. We make sure every detail is perfect before we consider the job done.

Choosing the best type of air conditioner for your home depends on your specific needs, budget, and property layout. Central air conditioning is the most common choice for homes with existing ductwork. This system uses a network of ducts to distribute cool air throughout the entire house from a single indoor unit. Central AC is highly effective at providing consistent, whole home cooling and is often integrated with your heating system. Modern central air conditioners are available in a wide range of efficiency ratings, allowing for significant energy savings. Our team can help you select a central AC unit that is perfectly sized for your home. We ensure balanced and comfortable temperatures in every room.

For homes without existing ductwork, a ductless mini split system is an excellent alternative. These systems consist of one outdoor unit connected to one or more indoor air handlers. Each indoor unit can be controlled independently, allowing for customized temperature zones throughout your home. This zoning capability can lead to substantial energy savings, as you only cool the rooms you are using. Ductless mini splits are also known for their quiet operation and high efficiency ratings. They offer a flexible and effective cooling solution for home additions, converted garages, or older homes where installing ductwork is impractical. Our technicians are experts in designing and installing multi zone mini split systems.

Other options like heat pumps and geothermal systems also provide air conditioning. A heat pump is an all in one solution that provides both heating and cooling by moving heat, rather than creating it. They are highly efficient, especially in the moderate climate of Orem, UT. Geothermal systems are the most energy efficient option available, using the stable temperature of the earth to cool your home. While the initial investment is higher, the long term energy savings are unmatched. During our consultation, we will discuss the pros and cons of each system type. We will help you weigh factors like installation cost, energy efficiency, and long term value to find the perfect fit for your home.

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, and it is a critical metric for understanding an air conditioner’s efficiency. The SEER rating measures how much cooling output a system provides for each unit of electrical energy it consumes over a typical cooling season. A higher SEER rating indicates a more energy efficient air conditioner. This means a unit with a higher SEER will use less electricity to cool your home compared to a unit with a lower SEER. Choosing a higher SEER unit can result in significant savings on your monthly utility bills. The federal government sets minimum SEER rating standards for all new air conditioners sold in the United States. Our team will help you understand the ratings of the systems we offer.

Currently, the minimum SEER rating for new air conditioners in our region is 14. However, high efficiency models are available with SEER ratings of 20 or even higher. While units with higher SEER ratings typically have a greater upfront cost, the long term energy savings often offset the initial investment. The amount you can save depends on your local electricity rates, your climate, and how often you use your air conditioner. An energy efficient system not only saves you money but also reduces your home’s environmental impact. We can provide you with an estimated annual energy savings for different SEER ratings. This helps you make a financially sound decision for your household.

It is also important to remember that the SEER rating reflects the potential efficiency of a system. To achieve the rated efficiency, the air conditioner must be installed correctly and be properly matched with the indoor coil. This is why professional installation from a qualified contractor like Vortex Air HVAC is so important. A poorly installed system, even one with a high SEER rating, will not perform efficiently. Our technicians are trained to install systems according to manufacturer specifications to ensure you get the full benefit of your investment. We guarantee that your new, high SEER air conditioner will operate at its peak potential from day one. Proper installation is the key to unlocking energy savings.

The cost of a new air conditioner installation in Orem, UT, varies widely based on several key factors. The most significant factors are the brand, size, and efficiency rating of the unit you choose. Higher efficiency units with greater SEER ratings cost more upfront but deliver long term savings on energy bills. The size of the air conditioner, measured in tons, is determined by your home’s cooling needs and also heavily influences the price. A larger home requires a more powerful, and therefore more expensive, unit. At Vortex Air HVAC, we provide a range of options to fit different budgets and preferences. We believe in transparent pricing with no hidden fees.

The complexity of the installation job itself is another major component of the overall cost. A straightforward replacement of an existing system will be less expensive than a new installation in a home without prior ductwork. If your existing ductwork needs to be modified, repaired, or replaced, this will add to the total project cost. The accessibility of the installation site can also affect labor costs. Our team provides a detailed, itemized estimate after our initial on site consultation. This ensures you understand exactly what you are paying for. We discuss all aspects of the project with you before any work begins.

Other potential costs can include necessary electrical upgrades to support the new system or the installation of a new smart thermostat. We also consider any available rebates from manufacturers or local utility companies, which can help lower the final price. Vortex Air HVAC offers flexible financing options to help make your new air conditioner more affordable. Our goal is to provide a high quality installation that offers the best possible value for your investment. We are committed to working with you to find a solution that meets your cooling needs and your budget. We provide clear, upfront quotes for all our work.

Whether you need to replace your ductwork with a new AC depends on the age and condition of your existing ducts. If your ducts are in good condition, properly sized, and well sealed, they can likely be used with your new air conditioning system. Our technicians will perform a thorough inspection of your ductwork during the initial consultation. We look for signs of damage like leaks, cracks, or disconnected sections. Leaky ducts can account for up to 30% of energy loss in a cooling system, so addressing these issues is critical. A well maintained duct system is essential for the efficient operation of your new air conditioner. We provide honest assessments of your ductwork’s condition.

You may need to replace your ductwork if it is old, poorly designed, or improperly sized for the new system. Ducts that are too small can restrict airflow, which strains your AC’s blower motor and reduces its efficiency and cooling power. Ducts that are too large can lead to poor air velocity and uneven temperature distribution. In some cases, old ductwork may contain contaminants like mold or excessive dust that are difficult to remove. Replacing the ducts in these situations ensures better indoor air quality and system performance. We can design and install a new duct system that is optimized for your home and new AC unit.

Even if a full replacement is not necessary, some modifications or repairs may be required. We often find that sealing duct connections with mastic sealant and insulating ducts in unconditioned spaces like attics or crawl spaces can dramatically improve performance. These upgrades help ensure that the cool air produced by your new AC reaches its destination without loss. Our team will present you with all available options, from minor repairs to a full replacement. We will explain the benefits of each choice so you can make an informed decision. Our goal is to ensure your entire HVAC system works together harmoniously for maximum efficiency and comfort.

Deciding between repairing and replacing your air conditioner can be a difficult choice. One of the most significant factors to consider is the age of your system. Most central air conditioners have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. If your unit is approaching or has surpassed this age range, replacement is often the more cost effective option in the long run. An older system is more likely to experience frequent breakdowns and operate much less efficiently than modern units. Investing in a new, high efficiency system can lead to substantial energy savings that help offset the initial cost. We can help you evaluate the condition of your aging unit.

Another key sign is the frequency and cost of repairs. If you find yourself calling for service multiple times a year, the repair costs can quickly add up. A good rule of thumb is the 5,000 rule; multiply the age of the unit by the cost of the repair. If the total exceeds $5,000, replacement is generally the better financial decision. Constant repairs indicate that major components are beginning to fail, and another breakdown is likely just around the corner. A new system provides peace of mind and reliable cooling for years to come. We provide honest advice on whether a repair or replacement makes more sense financially.

Poor performance and high energy bills are also strong indicators that it’s time for a new AC. If your air conditioner struggles to keep your home cool, runs constantly, or leaves some rooms warmer than others, it may be failing. You might also notice a sudden and unexplained spike in your summer electricity bills. This suggests your unit’s efficiency has significantly degraded over time. A new air conditioner will provide superior comfort and operate much more efficiently, lowering your energy consumption. Our technicians can perform an evaluation to determine if your current system’s performance issues warrant a full replacement.

At Vortex Air HVAC, we believe in providing our customers with high quality, reliable products from trusted manufacturers. We are not tied to a single brand; this allows us to recommend the best possible solution for your specific needs and budget. We have extensive experience installing a wide variety of leading air conditioner brands known for their durability and performance. Our technicians are factory trained to install these systems according to the manufacturer’s exact specifications. This ensures that your new equipment operates at its peak efficiency and that your warranty remains valid. We help you navigate the options to find the perfect brand and model for your home.

We often recommend and install systems from industry leaders such as Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, and others. Each of these brands offers a range of models with different features and efficiency ratings. We can explain the unique benefits of each brand, from Trane’s reputation for rugged durability to Carrier’s innovations in quiet operation. Our goal is to match you with a product that has a proven track record of reliability and customer satisfaction. We stand behind the quality of the equipment we install. We have seen firsthand which brands perform best in the Orem, UT climate.

Ultimately, the quality of the installation is just as important, if not more important, than the brand of the equipment itself. A top of the line air conditioner will not perform well if it is installed improperly. Our team at Vortex Air HVAC is committed to the highest standards of workmanship on every installation. We ensure your system is sized correctly, installed meticulously, and commissioned properly, regardless of the brand you choose. Our focus is on providing you with a complete cooling system that delivers reliable comfort and efficiency for many years. You can trust our expertise to guide you to the right product and provide a flawless installation.

Our goal is to ensure you are fully informed and comfortable with the plan.
