They were outstanding. Super responsive without talking to some robot to schedule. They shot right over to the house right away when our AC wasn't working. You want to use them for super quick and great service!
Great company to work with! I felt like they were fair and honest. They were great at communicating with me and getting out to our place fast and working around our schedule! Will be using them again in the future!
I HIGHLY recommend going with Vortex Air HVAC. My original heater in my house (1989) was having issues. I watched a ton of videos and did everything to get it back and working with one caveat. Vortex came and took a look and realized it was a simple quick fix. He didn't charge me anything for it after I insisted I paid him. He then proceeded to to a quick diagnostic to verify everything was working correctly for free. Fantastic customer service. That simple act has won me over as a lifetime customer.
We contacted Vortex Air HVAC when we were installing a vent fan above our stove. The Vortex team came out, climbed up in our attic to cut a hole in our roof to install the ducting for it. Not only did they weather seal around their work, they cleaned the entire mess and was very friendly and professional. Now every year we have them come out and prep our furnace and A/C for the seasons. Thank you Vortex Air for excellent, professional and friendly service everytime. 😁
Quick response time, very knowledgeable, and great pricing. I definitely will be calling vortex next time!
I’ve waited a few weeks to post this review pending my full experience with Vortex air. Recently we had our ac go out, I had multiple big name and a few smaller companies out they all played the same game! Send a “tech” they tell me it’s bad few hours to a day later another “sales” man shows up to quote it.. I called these guys as I had just a coworker refer them. The Owner answered the phone and then showed up to my house within an hour! He then proceeded to give me all the options to even repair! He made thoughtful and valid suggestions on what we can really do to improve air quality as well. Day of install shows up and they were on time and had it all changed and running same day! Pricing was very competitive and not like getting the wind knocked out of you like all the other prices I got. 5 stars for service another 5 for the install and another 5 for the peace of mind we will have coming these next seasons. Thank you vortex!

Dryer Vent Cleaning Service
The dryer vent cleaning process begins with a comprehensive inspection of the entire ventilation line. Our technicians examine the connection at the back of the dryer and the exterior exhaust hood. We look for signs of excessive lint buildup, moisture, or blockages that could restrict airflow. This initial assessment helps us determine the best cleaning method for your specific duct configuration. We check for any visible damage or disconnected sections that could leak hot air. Understanding the current state of your vent is the first step toward a safer home. We provide you with a clear explanation of our findings before we begin. Our goal is a transparent and effective service.
We use industrial strength vacuum systems and specialized agitation tools to perform the cleaning. Our high powered equipment is designed to pull lint from the furthest reaches of the ductwork. We insert rotating brushes into the vent to dislodge caked on debris and stubborn lint clogs. This mechanical agitation ensures that the interior walls of the duct are completely cleared. The powerful suction captures all loosened material, preventing it from entering your living space. We clean from both the interior and exterior of your home whenever possible. This dual approach guarantees that no lint is left behind in the system. Your dryer’s efficiency depends on a clear and unobstructed path for exhaust.
Safety is our primary concern during every dryer vent cleaning project we undertake. Lint is highly flammable, and its accumulation in the vent is a leading cause of residential fires. We pay close attention to the transition duct, which is the flexible hose connecting the dryer to the wall. This area is often prone to kinks and heavy lint buildup that can spark a fire. Our technicians ensure that this connection is secure and made of fire resistant materials. We also verify that the exterior vent cover is opening and closing correctly. A stuck vent cover can trap heat and lint inside the ductwork. We leave your system in a state that maximizes safety for your family.
Improving your dryer’s performance and efficiency is a major benefit of our professional service. When a vent is clogged, the dryer must run for longer periods to get clothes dry. This extra run time wastes a significant amount of electricity or natural gas every month. It also puts unnecessary wear on the dryer’s heating element, drum, and motor components. After a thorough cleaning, you will find that your clothes dry faster in just one cycle. This saves you time and reduces your monthly utility bills immediately. A clean vent allows the dryer to operate exactly as the manufacturer intended. We restore the peak performance of your valuable appliance.
We handle the removal of unusual blockages that can occur in the Orem area. It is not uncommon for birds, rodents, or insects to build nests inside dryer vents during the winter. These nests create total blockages that are extremely dangerous and prevent any exhaust from escaping. Our technicians are experienced in safely removing these obstructions and cleaning the resulting mess. We can also install specialized pest guards on your exterior vent to prevent future intrusions. Protecting your vent from wildlife is a key part of our comprehensive service. We ensure your ventilation path is clear of all organic and inorganic debris. Our team is equipped for even the most difficult blockages.
During the service, we also evaluate the overall integrity and design of your ductwork. Some homes have vents that are too long or have too many bends, which promotes lint accumulation. We check for foil or plastic transition ducts, which are no longer recommended due to fire risks. If we find that your ductwork is damaged or improperly installed, we will recommend the necessary repairs. We can replace old flexible hoses with rigid metal ductwork for better airflow and safety. Our technicians are knowledgeable about current building codes and safety standards for dryer ventilation. We provide professional advice to help you maintain a safe laundry environment.
We take pride in leaving your laundry area cleaner than we found it. Our technicians work carefully to minimize any dust or debris in your home during the process. We use drop cloths and protective equipment to ensure your floors and walls are protected. Once the cleaning is finished, we perform a final airflow test to verify the results. We measure the velocity of the air exiting the vent to ensure it meets safety requirements. This objective test proves that the obstruction has been removed and airflow is restored. We review the results with you and answer any questions before we depart. Your satisfaction and peace of mind are our ultimate goals.

Common Dryer Vent Cleaning Questions
We understand you have questions about the safety and maintenance of your dryer ventilation. Our goal is to provide clear information to help you protect your home from fire hazards. Below, you will find detailed answers to common inquiries about dryer vent cleaning.
The most common sign that your dryer vent is clogged is that your clothes take longer than one cycle to dry. If you notice that your towels or heavy jeans are still damp after a standard drying cycle, airflow is likely restricted. Another clear indicator is if the dryer or the clothes feel unusually hot at the end of a cycle. When lint blocks the exhaust, heat builds up inside the drum instead of being carried away. You might also notice a musty smell on your laundry, which is caused by trapped moisture that cannot escape. These are all warning signs that your vent needs professional attention.
You should also check the exterior of your home while the dryer is running. If you do not see steam or feel a strong flow of air coming from the vent, there is an obstruction. The small flaps on the vent cover should blow open wide during operation. If they are barely moving or stay closed, the vent is restricted. You might also see lint accumulating around the door seal or on the ground outside the vent. Any visible lint outside the dryer is a sign that the system is overwhelmed. Addressing these signs early can prevent an appliance breakdown or a fire.
Finally, if it has been more than a year since your last professional cleaning, it is time to schedule service. Lint builds up gradually, and you may not notice the slow decline in performance. A professional inspection can identify clogs that are not yet causing obvious symptoms. High usage households with large families or many pets will accumulate lint even faster. Being proactive with your maintenance is the best way to ensure safety. Vortex Air HVAC can perform a quick check to see if your vent is clear.
Most homeowners should have their dryer vents professionally cleaned at least once every year. This annual schedule is the standard recommendation for maintaining safety and appliance efficiency. For a typical family, twelve months is enough time for a significant amount of lint to accumulate in the ductwork. Regular cleaning ensures that the lint never reaches a dangerous level that could spark a fire. It also keeps your dryer running at its most efficient setting, saving you money on power. Annual service is a small price to pay for the peace of mind it provides.
Certain factors may require you to schedule cleanings more frequently, perhaps every six months. If you have a large family and run multiple loads of laundry every day, lint will build up much faster. Households with multiple shedding pets also see quicker accumulation, as pet hair often bypasses the lint trap. The length and path of your dryer vent also play a role in how often service is needed. Vents that are very long or have several 90 degree turns trap lint more easily than short, straight runs. Our technicians can evaluate your setup and recommend a personalized schedule.
Consistency is the key to preventing the many problems associated with clogged vents. Skipping even one year of maintenance can lead to a drastic reduction in airflow and an increase in fire risk. Many homeowner insurance policies actually recommend or require regular dryer vent maintenance to ensure coverage. By sticking to a yearly professional cleaning with Vortex Air HVAC, you protect your home and your investment. We can set up a recurring reminder so you never forget this essential task. Regular care is the best way to avoid emergency repairs and hazards.
While you can perform basic maintenance, a thorough cleaning of the entire vent line should be left to a professional. Homeowners should always clean the lint trap after every single load of laundry. You can also use a vacuum attachment to clean out the lint trap housing periodically. These simple tasks help, but they do not address the lint that travels deep into the wall ducts. Standard vacuum hoses are rarely long enough or flexible enough to reach the entire length of the vent. DIY kits often lack the power needed to fully clear stubborn blockages.
The risk of damaging your ductwork during a DIY attempt is significant. If you use a brush that is too aggressive or a rod that is too rigid, you can puncture or disconnect the duct inside the wall. Disconnected ducts vent hot, moist air into your wall cavities, which leads to mold growth and structural rot. Many homes have flexible foil or plastic venting that is easily torn by amateur tools. Professional technicians have specialized, flexible equipment designed to navigate bends without causing damage. We know how much pressure to apply to ensure a clean duct without compromising its integrity.
Furthermore, a professional cleaning includes a safety inspection that a homeowner might miss. We look for crushed sections, improper materials, and signs of overheating that are hidden behind the walls. We also have the tools to measure airflow velocity before and after the cleaning to prove the system is safe. An amateur cleaning provides no way to verify that the entire obstruction has been removed. For the safety of your family and the longevity of your dryer, trust the experts at Vortex Air HVAC. We have the training and industrial tools to do the job correctly.
Yes, professional dryer vent cleaning is the single most effective way to prevent dryer related house fires. According to the National Fire Protection Association, nearly 16,000 home fires are started by clothes dryers every year. The leading cause of these fires is the failure to clean the dryer vents. Lint is an extremely combustible material that is produced in large quantities every time you dry clothes. When the vent is clogged, the dryer’s internal temperature rises significantly because the hot air has nowhere to go. This extreme heat can ignite the lint trapped in the ductwork or inside the dryer cabinet.
A clean vent ensures that the hot air and moisture are exhausted safely to the outdoors. This prevents the heating element from running too hot and reduces the chance of a spark igniting a fire. During our cleaning, we also remove the lint that has accumulated around the motor and the heating element. This internal cleaning is just as important as cleaning the ducts themselves. We ensure that every potential fuel source for a fire is removed from the system. Maintaining clear airflow is the best defense against a devastating home fire.
In addition to fire prevention, a clean vent protects your dryer’s electronic components from heat damage. Overheating is a common cause of control board failure and motor burnout. By keeping the vent clear, you ensure that the dryer stays within its safe operating temperature range. This prevents the need for expensive repairs and ensures the safety of your laundry room. Our comprehensive service is designed to eliminate all fire risks associated with your dryer. Trust our team to provide the thorough cleaning necessary for your home’s protection.
A standard professional dryer vent cleaning typically takes between 45 minutes to one hour to complete. This timeframe is for a typical residential home with a standard vent length and easy access. Our technicians work efficiently to minimize the disruption to your daily routine while ensuring a thorough clean. The process includes the initial inspection, the actual cleaning of the ductwork, and the final airflow testing. We arrive fully prepared to handle the job and will not waste any time getting started. Most customers are surprised at how quickly we can restore their system.
If your dryer vent is exceptionally long or has a complex path through several floors, it may take longer. Vents that exit through the roof of a multi story home require more setup and time to clean properly. The level of lint buildup also influences the duration; a heavily impacted vent takes more passes with the brush to clear. If we discover bird nests or other significant blockages, additional time will be needed for safe removal. We will provide you with an accurate time estimate after our initial inspection. We never rush the process, as quality and safety are our priorities.
We also factor in time for a complete cleanup of the work area. We ensure that any lint or dust dislodged during the service is thoroughly vacuumed and removed from your home. Our goal is to leave your laundry room and exterior vent area spotless. After the work is done, our technician will walk you through the results and show you the airflow readings. We want you to be fully informed about the work performed and the status of your system. You can plan on a quick and hassle free experience when you choose Vortex Air HVAC.
Yes, professional dryer vent cleaning can lead to a noticeable reduction in your monthly energy bills. When a vent is clogged with lint, the dryer must work much harder to push the moist, hot air out of the house. This restriction forces the dryer to run for a longer period to reach the same level of dryness. Instead of one 45 minute cycle, you might find yourself running the dryer for 90 minutes or more. Since dryers are one of the most energy intensive appliances in your home, this extra run time adds up quickly. A clear vent restores efficient operation and shortens cycle times.
By removing the obstruction, you allow the dryer’s heating element and motor to operate at their peak efficiency. The dryer will not have to reach such high temperatures to get the job done, which saves natural gas or electricity. Many homeowners find that their drying times are cut in half after a professional cleaning. Over the course of a year, these savings can easily exceed the cost of the cleaning service itself. It is one of the few maintenance tasks that provides a direct financial return on investment. Efficient drying is good for your wallet and the environment.
Furthermore, a shorter drying cycle means less heat is being exhausted through your home’s walls and attic. This reduces the load on your air conditioning system during the hot Orem summers. When your dryer runs for two hours instead of one, it radiates a significant amount of heat into your living space. Cleaning the vent helps keep your home cooler and reduces the overall energy consumption of your entire HVAC system. We help you maximize every dollar you spend on home utilities. Trust Vortex Air HVAC to restore your appliance’s energy saving potential.
The material used for your dryer vent significantly impacts its safety, efficiency, and how easily it can be cleaned. Rigid metal ducting, typically made of aluminum or galvanized steel, is the gold standard for dryer ventilation. It has a smooth interior surface that minimizes the friction of the airflow and provides few places for lint to get caught. Rigid ducts are also highly fire resistant and can contain a lint fire if one were to occur. Most building codes now require rigid metal ductwork for any vent sections that are hidden inside walls or ceilings.
Flexible transition ducts are meant only for the short connection between the dryer and the wall. They are made of flexible foil or plastic, which allows you to move the dryer easily. However, these flexible materials have a ribbed interior that traps lint very quickly. They are also prone to kinking or being crushed when the dryer is pushed too close to the wall, which almost completely chokes the airflow. Plastic and thin foil flexible ducts are also a fire hazard, as they can melt or burn quickly if the lint inside ignites. We often recommend replacing these with heavy duty semi rigid metal connectors.
During our service, we will inspect your entire vent line to ensure the correct materials are being used. If we find dangerous plastic or flimsy foil venting inside your walls, we will recommend a professional upgrade to rigid metal. A properly designed system with rigid ducts stays cleaner for much longer and is vastly safer. We focus on building a ventilation system that promotes maximum airflow and minimum fire risk. Our technicians can perform the necessary modifications to bring your home up to modern safety standards. We prioritize long term solutions for your home.
Yes, bird nests are a very common cause of total dryer vent blockages in Orem, especially during the spring and summer. Small birds like starlings and sparrows look for warm, protected cavities to build their nests, and an open dryer vent is an attractive option. They can fill several feet of ductwork with grass, twigs, mud, and feathers in just a few days. This creates a solid plug that completely prevents the dryer from exhausting air. Running a dryer with a bird nest in the vent is extremely dangerous and will cause the appliance to overheat almost immediately.
In addition to the fire risk, bird nests introduce other hazards into your home. They can bring in mites, lice, and unpleasant odors that circulate back into your laundry room. If a bird becomes trapped and dies in the vent, the smell can become unbearable and very difficult to remove. Accumulated bird droppings are also unsanitary and can pose a health risk. Our technicians are trained to safely remove these nests and all the associated debris from your ductwork. We ensure the entire line is sanitized after the obstruction is cleared.
To prevent future bird intrusions, we can install a professional grade, pest resistant vent cover. These covers feature a heavy duty cage or a louvred design that allows lint to exit but keeps birds and rodents out. Standard plastic vent covers often break or get stuck open, inviting pests inside. Our high quality covers are durable and designed specifically for dryer exhaust. Protecting your vent from wildlife is a crucial part of our comprehensive maintenance service. We provide a permanent solution to keep your ventilation system clear and safe.
